NoMIS Power receives EERE funding to develop low cost SiC Power Modules
May 23, 2022
May 23, 2022, Albany, NY – NoMIS Power is excited to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO), part of the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE), for a Phase I SBIR for “Highly Integrated, Low Cost SiC Power Modules with Modified Substrates for High Performance and Ease of Manufacturing.”
Supported by Virginia Tech University and The Ohio State University, NoMIS Power will focus on electric-field grading approaches to reduce junction-to-case thermal resistance, while simultaneously increasing the partial discharge inception voltage (PDIV) inside the power module, for improved reliability. With tech-to-market commercialization in mind, the developed packaging technology will need to be industry compatible to enable cheaper, more robust, and more easily manufacturable power modules.
AMO supports EERE’s strategic goal to promote American energy dominance through affordable and reliable energy production and use, which advances economic growth and energy security.
